Guidelines For Living Devotional

Noticing that the hair on the top of my head was somewhat thin, an acquaintance contributed the dubious bit of wisdom that it is now a proven fact that if you eat six bananas a day, you will have a full head of black hair.

Some would call it quirks of evolution, but when you believe that God created all things, you have to think that perhaps God smiled as He made some of the little creatures and birds of the air whose designs are so specialized that they do certain things that no other creature can do, yet can't do what other birds or animals do quite easily. 

In the TV drama entitled Uprising, the plight of the Jews of Warsaw and how they resisted the forces of the Third Reich is vividly portrayed. 

In Jack Kerouac's book, On The Road, one character turns to the other and says, "We gotta go and never stop going till we get there."  "Where we going, Man?" asks the other. 

Do you ever feel like giving up?  One of our listeners wrote saying that he had prayed about something, and that God did not answer his prayer, so he was just giving up on the idea. 

What do you do when you get to the end of the rope?  Do you drown your grief in tears? 

It is often difficult for adults to understand the thinking of a youth, especially in relationship to the dark side of adolescence.

Jesus urged the disciples to "Behold the fowls or the birds of the air..."  In a world fraught by worry and fear, His words of advice are good for today.

The next time you feel that your life does not really count, that because you are just a single individual, you cannot do much to right the wrongs in life-- remember that a paper clip, a tiny one-inch paper clip, saved a 500,000-pound experimental plane from crashing and breaking into pieces.
