Guidelines For Living Devotional

“I’ll be home by 9 o’clock.”  But nine comes and he doesn’t show.  The same thing is true of ten, and eleven. 

Integrity is mentioned some 40 times in the Bible, and a study of the several different words which are all translated into English using our word integrity shows that integrity refers to being upright in heart, honest in your actions, committed to doing right regardless of the cost.

A Baptist deacon had an old car that was broken down more than it was running, and decided to sell it while he could still get something out of it.  

Authority is an issue today‑‑in science, in business, in government, and even in religion.  By whose authority do you do this? 

It is said that in 1861 the French Academy of Science printed a brochure stating that there are 51 incontrovertible facts that are direct contradictions of the Bible. Today there is not one reputable scientist who would believe a single one of them.  Why?  Has the Bible changed!

Francois Marie Voltaire, the French agnostic, said that Christianity would not survive him by a hundred years, yet a hundred years after his death the Geneva Bible Society purchased his old home and upon Voltaire's own press, printed a complete edition of the Bible. 

Charles Haddon Spurgeon, the British expositor of bygone days, told the story of a poor woman who was confronted by a modern agnostic who asked, "What are you reading?"  She replied, "The Bible, the Word of God." 

Authority in our world is as necessary to the survival of the human race as are good nutrition and clean air.

Why do so many people pray to a living God and believe in Jesus Christ, but down deep in their heart, they just don't feel much of anything?
